Alors qu’une épidémie dont on ignore l’origine est arrivé aux Etats-Unis, ce dangereux virus a transformé la majorité des personnes en des zombies. Ces infectés attaquent la population restante. La loi martiale est décrétée et les survivants regroupés dans différentes villes sous la protection de l’armée. Malheureusement, la situation va dégénérer et échapper à tout contrôle, les survivants regroupé devenant des proies faciles. On suit 4 héros : Zoey, Louis, Francis et Bill qui font partis des derniers survivants et qui ont comme particularité une très grande résistance à cette infection.
